Mill Valley, just north of Sausalito and less than 10 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, is the most village-like town in Marin County. Its downtown boutiques, high-end chain clothing stores, unique furniture and antique stores, coffee shops and destination restaurants make Mill Valley real estate some of the most valuable in the county.
Musicans, artists, and actors have all made Mill Valley home. This quaint and eclectic town sits at the base of Mt. Tamalpais, and is the gateway to Muir Beach, Muir Woods, and Stinson Beach.
Mill Valley's schools have excellent 2006 API scores -- particularly Old Mill, Edna Maguire and Tamalpais Valley Elementary.
Mill Valley's established neighborhoods, redwood groves, community center with indoor swimming pool, 9-hole golf course make this town an extraordinary place to live. The downsides are the weather can be a bit foggy in the summer, and the traffic between the downtown and and the freeway can get backed up.
There are neighborhoods in the 'flats' which are popular among families with kids, and hillside neighborhoods that offer gorgeous views and privacy.
